BUILDING COUNSELLING RELATIONSHIP COMPETENCIES
AND THE “6CS’ MODEL OF COUNSELLING

Part time, 3 days (21 hours)
Course Description
This course covers the definition of counselling, the qualities of a counsellor, and the counselling process and includes case studies as well as role-play for practice.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the Course, you will be able to:
- Apply counselling processes and interventions to address diverse socioemotional objectives
- Perform counselling techniques, effective rapport and communication skills across varied client contexts
- Handle crises while maintaining confidentiality and proficiently document counselling interventions
- Guide counselling conversations to explore complex issues and clarify client goals for effective interventions
- Manage high-risk cases by referring clients for holistic care according to SOPs for transdisciplinary interventions
- Apply the “6 Cs Model” of counselling including assessing client progress, adapting interventions, and counselling effectiveness
Minimum Entry Requirement
- 21 years and above
- Possess minimally a O’ Level and/or listen, speak, read, and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 5
- Use numeracy skills equivalent to the Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 5
- Minimum 1 year of working experience
Assessments
Participants are required to complete two written assessments and one oral assessment
Certification Awarded
Upon successful completion of the course with ECTA, participants will be presented with a certificate awarded and accredited by SkillsFuture SG.
