Review and Appeal Regulations

APPEAL FOR REVIEW OF ASSESSMENT

Students who are not satisfied with one or more specific aspects of their graded assessment may request for their work to be reviewed by the same assessor. Appeals to review a graded assessment must be made within SEVEN (7) working days from the release of the results.

Appeals for review may address:

  1. Whether the specific component(s) was marked correctly or fairly; and 
  2. Whether the aggregate marks for the assessment components have been accurately or appropriately taken into account.

Upon review, the assessor may:

As a result of this process, the student’s final (new) grade can only be improved, or be maintained at the initial grade.

Review Fee

An Appeal fee of $27.50 (inclusive of GST) for GC, GD and GCCS is chargeable for all appeals for review.

An Appeal fee of $32.40 (inclusive of GST) for MS is chargeable for all appeals for review.

In the event that an appeal for review has not been submitted to ECTA within the given window period of SEVEN (7) working days, the student’s right to appeal is lost.

APPEALS AFTER REVIEW OF ASSESSMENT

 APPEAL FOR RE-GRADING OF ASSESSMENT

Students who are not satisfied with the overall outcome of a graded assessment may appeal for their work to be re-graded by  a different assessor. Appeals to re-grade a graded assessment must be made within seven (7) working days from the release of the results.

Appeals for re-grading may address:

  1. Whether the assessment as a whole, and all its components, was marked correctly or fairly; and 
  2. Whether the aggregate marks for the assessment components have been accurately or appropriately taken into account.

Upon re-grading, the assessor may submit a new/different result to ECTA for ECTA to submit the results to Flinders University’s Student Administration department.

There is also a possibility that the results by the different assessor may be similar to the initial results. 
Confirm the initial results to ECTA for ECTA to submit the results to Swinburne University of Technology’s Students Administration department.
If the two (2) assessors award different grades, the average of the two (2) grades will be taken as the student’s final (new) grade.

Re-grading Fee

A re-grading fee of $55.00 (inclusive of GST) for GC, GD and GCCS is chargeable for all appeals for regrading.

A re-grading fee of $64.80 (inclusive of GST) for MS is chargeable for all appeals for regrading.

APPROVAL BY ACADEMIC BOARD

All appeals for re-grading of written assessments will be considered by ECTA’s Examination Board (through ECTA’s Clinical and Academic Director) on the strengths and merits of the request. If the appeal is approved, the new grade will be released to the student only after it has been moderated and endorsed by ECTA’s Examination Board. Other relevant grading policies by Flinders University may apply.

If an appeal for re-grading has not been submitted to ECTA within the given window period of SEVEN (7) working days, the student’s right to appeal is lost.

APPEAL FOR RE-SUBMISSION OF ASSESSMENT

(For Non-Passing Grades Between 45 and 49 Marks)

Students who do not pass their assessment and have received between 45 and 49 marks may appeal to re-submit their assessment. They will be required to re-attempt their assessment, and re-submit it for grading. Assessments that are re-submitted can only be awarded a maximum of 64 marks.

Appeals to re-submit an assessment with a non-passing grade (between 45 and 49 marks) must be made within SEVEN (7) working days from the release of the results. Such assessments are not eligible to be reviewed or re-graded.

Re-Submission Fee

A re-submission fee of $55.00 (inclusive of GST) for GC, GD and GCCS is chargeable for all appeals for re-submission of assessment.

A re-submission fee of $64.80 (inclusive of GST) for MS is chargeable for all appeals for re-submission of assessment.

RE-ENROLMENT INTO TOPIC

(For Non-Passing Grades Below 45 Marks)

Students who do not pass their assessment and have received fewer than 45 marks, must re-enroll into the topic associated with the assessment, in order to re-attempt the assessment to attain a passing mark. Students will not be eligible to appeal for review, re-grading, or re-submission of their assessment.

The prevailing fee for re-enrolling into the relevant topic will apply.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION (PSC70015) APPEAL

WHAT ARE THE GROUNDS FOR APPEALING TO SIT FOR THE SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATION?

If you have obtained 49 marks and below, you have an option to re-sit for the MHSC8040 examination by taking the Supplementary Examination.

WHAT ARE THE GROUNDS FOR APPEALING FOR A RE-GRADING OF AN EXAMINATION SCRIPT?

You MAY appeal for a re-grading of your examination script if you feel that the grade awarded does not fairly reflect your academic performance and/or the stated requirements for the course.

WHEN CAN I APPEAL?

Appeals to sit for the supplementary examination or re-grading of examination grades must be made within three (3) wworking days* from the release of the grade.

A non-refundable administrative and marking fee of S$86.40 (including GST) will be charged.

You will be informed of the date and time of the supplementary examination.
