ECTA's Diploma Course Approved by Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC)
The Diploma in Holistic Counselling for Schools, which is jointly organised by Ministry of Education and ECTA, is now officially recognised by the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) as a counselling programme that prepares individuals to be REGISTERED COUNSELLORS IN SINGAPORE. COURSE STRUCTURE
This 8-month full-time Diploma in Holistic Counselling for Schools is designed with two main components: course work and practicum clinical experience as well as case management. The course curriculum comprises eight modules. For practicum work, it will be conducted during a period of 14 weeks.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
On completion of the Diploma in Holistic Counselling for Schools, counselling interns will have obtained the tools and mindset to:
· define the role of counsellors in school;
· develop the qualities of effective counsellors;
· recognise the factors that influence the development of personality;
· perceive student’s problems in terms of a student’s development stage;
· take on the school counsellor’s role in guidance and counselling in the school;
· use individual counselling skills to help students in need;
· conduct group guidance to enhance student’s psychosocial well-being;
· manage students cases and counselling services in the school; and work with teachers, parents and other professionals to effectively enhance students’ learning and development
